At VSCO, we want to make sure every one of our creators has a safe and enjoyable experience so they can make it. In order to do this, we need to know the ages of our creators. This is why we’re asking you to share your birthday with us. Rest assured, it will be saved to profile, but not shared publicly.
We’ll ask for your birthday the next time you open VSCO. If you choose to dismiss the pop up, you’ll continue to receive reminders until your birthday is added. This applies to all users, including VSCO Members.
Why are we doing this? Because your birthday is more than just a date — it's a key element that helps prioritize your safety and enhance your overall VSCO experience.
Complying with Applicable Legal Requirements
By providing your birthday, you help us verify that you meet the minimum age requirement for using VSCO. Several U.S. states and countries worldwide have enacted various legal requirements, like the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), that are designed to protect the online safety and well-being of minor users. Your birthday information assists us in ensuring that we are compliant with current and future safeguards.
Committed to a Safe Online Experience for All
Our commitment to legal compliance is part of our broader dedication to creating an inclusive and safe online experience. By being transparent about the importance of age collection, we aim to build a platform where users of all ages can connect, share, and engage responsibly.
Customizing Your Experience on VSCO
Additionally, your birthday is a special occasion, and we want to celebrate with you. By sharing your birthday, we may tailor your experience with personalized features, notifications, and content on your special birthday month with your permission. It's our way of making your time on VSCO even more memorable.
We hope this answered your questions about why age collection is so important. For more information on what we do to keep you safe and secure, check out our Safety Center.
