Storing Photos on VSCO

How we store photos has changed.

VSCO no longer stores copies of your photos in your Studio. You’ll see your edited photos and videos in Studio, but to save them permanently, you’ll need to save them back to your Camera Roll or Gallery.

Photos imported to your Studio before this change will not be affected.

This update will not remove any photos that you previously had in your Studio. However, these photos will be removed if you delete the app at any point.

Here's what you need to know about this update to editing with VSCO:

    • Imported photos in Studio: Deleting any imported photos from your Camera Roll will also remove them from VSCO. In order to save a copy of your work outside of VSCO, toggle on the "Save" option to save the edited photo to your Camera Roll.

    • Edits made in Camera Roll: When you make edits to your original photo in your Camera Roll, these edits will appear on the imported photo in VSCO.

  • Not done Editing?: Have a photo you’re not quite done editing? Toggling the “Save” and “Post to VSCO” options to the off position will allow you to save a draft of your photo without exporting a copy to your Camera Roll or publishing to VSCO.

  • To save your edits outside of VSCO, tap the large "Save" button at the bottom of the screen to save your edits on the image after toggling the "Save" button to the off position. This will save the edits to your Camera Roll.

  • Finding saved VSCO photos in Camera Roll [For iOS only]: You can find all your VSCO photos in one place in your camera roll. From photos, tap “All Photos.” Tap “Albums” Tap “See All.”  Here you’ll see a folder named “VSCO” or “VSCO Cam” which will include all of the photos you have Saved to your Camera Roll from VSCO.

  • Backup your device: We encourage you to regularly backup your device to avoid losing photos. Any photos deleted from your Camera Roll or Gallery will also be removed from VSCO and you’ll no longer have access to them. Details on how to backup your device can be found here.
