Improve User Experience with Current Trends
Almost everything about VSCO is great right now (from the galleries, reposts, and spaces features to the fact that VSCO is a public platform that prevents others from viewing someone’s network (followers & following list), likes, and comments. However, it just needs a minor adjustment to the brand and the “recent” page.
1. Most social media has integrated video posting (TikToks or reels) as “free features” on their platform and I believe VSCO should do the same! With how VSCO is currently set up, it would be able to keep some users but not able to gain more.
2. If VSCO can market themselves as a social media photo & video editing app, it would be even better!
3. The recent page needs a minor tweak—it should be able to allow users to add multiple posts in one (similar to Instagram and Twitter’s carousel) as well as add music to the posts. One of the reasons why Instagram is doing great is because they were able to add features that hook users to posts.
— again, the current setup of VSCO is already good, but if users are able to scroll through carousels of photos and videos or add songs to their posts, it would be more engaging for users and the viewers as well. Right now, I think it’s great how users can view captions of posts if they decide to click on a certain picture, and I believe the carousel should be the same—if users want to view the carousel, they would have to click on the specific post.
Again, adding music to posts would be great and preventing others from seeing likes, comments, and one’s network should maintain as it is what makes VSCO stand out from other platforms.
