How to Use VSCO

In this article, you will find several sections that cover the VSCO app. This includes your Studio, Editing, Profile, Capture, Share, Explore and Discover.


Your Studio is where you can see all of images imported from your camera roll and captured with the VSCO in app camera. This is the starting point to editing images.

Please note that your Studio no longer stores a new copy of imported images. Any imported images from your camera roll are references to the original images in your camera roll. For more information, please see the following article

Additionally, your Studio is separate from your VSCO Profile. Any images located in your Studio are completely private and any images that you upload to your VSCO Profile are public for anyone to see. 

Tap on Stuido.png to access your Studio.


Tap the image you wish to edit then tap on Edit.png. You can only edit one image at a time.


If you wish to create a Journal (iOS only), tap on 2 or more images and tap on 'Create Journal' at the bottom of the screen. 

On Android, the edit button will be located above the tab bar to the right:




Tap on a preset you wish to use, and tap on the same preset for more options. 

For classic mobile presets you will only have a strength slider. These presets are artistically colored presets and do not emulate analog film.

For Film X presets (presets with white borders) you will have strength, character, and warmth sliders. These presets emulate actual analog films from Kodak, Fuji, Ilford, Agfa, etc.

Tap on the to confirm your adjustment for the preset intensity.


Tap on Edit.png to access your toolkit.


Here you can use the toolkit items to fine tune your image. If you wish to see more toolkit items, swipe to the right on the toolkit at the bottom of the screen.

After you have completed your edits, tap "Next".


You will then have the options to Save a copy to your camera roll, Post to VSCO, or just Save the edits in your Studio.

Toggle the switches for Save and/or Post to VSCO if you wish.




To post an image to your VSCO Profile from your Studio, tap on the image you wish to post and tap on the post icon Publish.png

If you want, add a caption or hastag to your image and tap on the check mark to post the image to your VSCO Profile.

Please note posting images to your VSCO Profile is public for anyone to see.

If you wish to create a Journal from this view (iOS only), tap on the + icon in the bottom left corner and add more images to make a Journal post. 

If you wish to publish an image immediately after you have edited it, toggle on the 'Post to VSCO' switch and tap on 'Post'




To capture an image with in app camera, tap on the on your Studio Stuido.png and tap on on the Camera icon Screen_Shot_2019-06-13_at_11.05.56_AM.png




On Android, tap on the camera icon.


Tap the shutter button to take a photo. On iOS, you can tap on DSCO to capture an animated GIF.


When you are done with the camera, tap on the X to exit camera mode.


To share an image, tap on the image you wish to share, tap on the 3 ellipses Screen_Shot_2019-06-13_at_11.23.02_AM.png in the bottom right corner and choose your share option.




Tap on ico_Feed.png to access your Feed. Here, you will find updates from the VSCO Collection and from the creators you follow.




To search for new and inspiring educational content tap on Discover.png  and you will be in the Discover section. From here you can search for people, images, and journal posts on VSCO by tapping on ico_Search.png.


To search for content on Android, tap on ico_Search.png at the top left of your feed, and you will be able search for people, images, and journal posts on VSCO.

To find inspiration, past and present tap on Follow.png in your Feed.


In this view, you have the ability to see profiles that are suggested and profiles that you follow or are followed by.
